From Stephanie:
I thought that I would just add on instead of delete what has already been written. It might be kind of funny to look back on the changes. Kind of like a journal. It is now Feb. of 2009. A lot has changed since the reunion. After much deliberation, my husband retired from Bear Rock. He is still a consultant for them but is very happy not to be dealing with the franchisee's on a daily basis. I started working for an accounting firm this past Nov. and am thoroughly enjoying it. A lot of you may laugh at the fact that I am an accountant and that's OK. I laughed myself when I started doing the books for Bear Rock many moons ago. But I found that I enjoy it and am pretty good at it.
This is where a lot of you will definitely laugh. As you are aware, I live in North Carolina. My daughter, Ashley, had her Debut as a Cary Debutante in January. Yes, you read that correctly, my daughter is a debutante. It is a little different now in the fact that the girls have to be nominated in order to participate. There are academic and extra-curricular requirements in order to be invited to participate. Any way, the ball was absolutely wonderful. She is headed to NC State University in Aug. (which is right here in Raleigh) to study pre-med. Hopefully she will take care of ME one day. My son, Will, is the sweetest boy I have ever known. He is kind, generous and funny. Notice I am not saying any thing about his academics. HA HA! He is a freshman in High School and is having more fun than studying. He plays offensive tackle for the football team and is already taller than his dad who is 6'. It is just so odd to have children in High School when I feel like I was just there myself.
Better late than never I guess. After high school I went to ECU and had way too much fun. After my junior year I transferred to UNC-Greensboro where I got a degree in Clinical Dietetics. 2 weeks after breaking off an engagement I met my husband of 19 years. I was finishing up my last semester at UNCG and he was in town for the ACC basketball tournament. We were married a year later. I moved to Raleigh NC and we got involved in a business called Hickory Hams. It was basically modeled after Honey Baked Hams. After about 5 years of that we sold it to start our own concept. We started Bear Rock Cafe in 1997. In 1990 our daughter Ashley was born. She will be 16 on Oct. 13th. I never thought that I would say this but I am so glad that she will be driving soon because I am exhausted carting her around to all of her activities. My son Will is 13 and enjoys life more than any one I know. He will never have high blood pressure. My dad retired at 48 and he and my mom moved to Atlanta. They have traveling, golfing, and just having fun. I am so happy for them. Of course as with everyone, so much else has happened in our lives and hopefully we can all catch up at the reunion.
