RICHARD MARK "RODNEY" WERNER
January 22, 1962 - April 14, 2008

The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree
Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued

The Bird Watcher’s Journal

(From WHS ‘81 Echelon Yearbook)

And then in the land of Wilton, the Angel of the Lord spoke unto two mortals whose names be Greg Walters and Ward Parker, and commanded them to form a humor magazine. They came before the Doctor Holt and issued this decree: “Thou shalt giveth us a giant room filled with two of everything that is necessary to reap find humor; namely, two typewriters, two waterbeds, two dictionaries, two brunettes, etc. And then we shalt drinketh beer for forty days and forty nights until the humor floweth from us with ease”. The Doctor said, “No”.
So it came to pass that the two editors were banished from the land of school-sponsoredom and started their own magazine, “The Bird Watcher’s Journal”. They gathered disciples—Andrew Smith, Mark Werner and Steve Jones—and spread fine humor throughout the land. And everyone was groovy. Amen.

From Lynn:
I moved to Wilton as a Sophmore, married Don Wheeler (Class of ‘80) in 1985. I have consistently worked as an Executive/Legal Secretary, while Don has run his own company, Wheeler Marketing, since 1985. He is in the Camping/Sporting Goods Industry. We have run Wheeler Marketing in several territories over the years, still loving the Connecticut area the best. Spending so much time away from the Northeast, I’m not really sure what my accent is now – it’s kind of a mix. We lived in Hewitt, New Jersey for 8 years on Upper Greenwood Lake and enjoyed waterskiing, tubing, etc. Both of our children were born here, Ashley (20) and Donny (14). Then we relocated to Seffner, Florida for 5 years (we were 8 minutes from Busch Gardens, and probably could set the World record for who has been to Disney the most. We went from snow and ice to heat, strawberry fields, snakes and alligators. After Florida we spent 2 years in Gainesville, Georgia on Lake Lanier. We enjoyed many boat rides and picnics. We are currently in Longview, Texas since 2000. The people here are very friendly, but it is hot. We’ve had an opportunity, since Don is self-employed, to do some traveling (Hawaii, St. Maartin, New Orleans, Mexico). Look forward to seeing many of you at the Reunion.

From Melisa:
Wow, I have had a blast looking at all the old photos, and remembering people I  had forgotten. We have changed sooooooo much.
Well, lets see, to sum up 28 years.  After leaving Wilton, I attended Northern Arizona University got my BA in Psychology.  Moved to San Francisco, and worked in the psychiatric floor of a hospital.  Loved that!  After the Quake, I moved where my parents were. Iowa. Received my MA in Psychology and worked for many years as a social worker/therapist. I have a beautiful daughter Madison, who is attending college this fall! After my father retired, I moved to Arkansas. I lived there for 10 years. Continued with my social work and counseling.  I met my husband Don, in 2000.
Both of my parents, Rick, and Minerva died within 10 months of each other. My mom used to sub for spanish classes at WHS. My dad was a scout master for troop 40. I am sure some of the guys from my class remember him.  Anyway, it was a hard blow losing my parents so close to each other. So Don and I decided to move.  We live in Nevada now. In 2007 I was DX with Cancer. I am in remission, almost 3 years now!  I thank the lord every day for his amazing grace!  I decided to make a major career change, after my illness, and now, am a business owner of a cleaning company. I absolutely love it:-)  It's funny how a major life event will change your life.
But I am happy to say, that  I have never been happier. My husband Don, is a "redneck" from the south.  Accent to boot. He works for an international mining firm.
I have 2 cats, Sydeny and Jada, there just like children:-) We live on the edge of the Ruby mountains. What a view. I love to garden, and shop for odd and unusual things.
I guess that brings my life up to the present.
I hope this finds all of you, well and blessed.  Love to hear from anyone!
Peace Out,
Melis
